0 – 24 Months

Home from Home & Little Discoverers

Our Home from Home & Little Discoverers room is specially designed to cater for the needs of children aged from 0 to 24 months.

Here at Burnley’s Le Monde Petit Nursery we have two baby rooms which provide a warm and friendly home from home environment.  Non-mobile babies are supported by our caring and experienced nursery practitioners. There is a large space for older babies who are becoming more mobile and need an area to learn to walk, develop their inquisitiveness and independence.  Activities in this room are floor based and practitioners spend their time at ground level with babies assisting them and encouraging them to explore the stimulating and interesting environment they have created for them – an environment that is forever evolving.

We also have a dedicated sleep area for the babies to take a nap and also a space for parents to meet practitioners to talk through their child’s development.

Nursery practitioners work closely with you as parents and carers at initial settling in sessions to get to know babies’ daily routines at home to ensure continuity of care when they start at nursery. The childcare team will continue to uphold detailed exchanges of conversation with parents on a daily basis to find out how they are progressing at home and to let you know how your child has spent their day at nursery, the activities they have enjoyed and the achievements they have made at Le Monde Petit Nursery.

The babies have the opportunity for lots of outdoor experiences – they spend time daily in our nursery gardens, and childcare practitioners regularly take them for walks to Burnley’s Thompson Park to see the ducks and the local wildlife.

Daily diaries are completed to be taken home, so even if you can’t collect your child yourself and therefore don’t get the opportunity to speak with your child’s keyperson at the end of your baby’s day at nursery, you will still be informed of meals provided, nappy changes and sleep times and a detailed account of your child’s day at nursery.  We also keep a Learning Journey file for each baby, to record photographs, development and achievements your baby makes at nursery.

Meet the Team

Amy Dewhurst

Deputy Manager & Room Leader

I came to Le Monde Petit after gaining four years’ experience at another nursery. I am qualified to Level 5 in Childcare. I have worked my way up to Deputy Manager, I love now that I can work closely with the management team to bring about changes within the nursery to further develop all children’s development and interests.

Diane Whitaker

Nursery Practitioner in Home from Home

I spent more than 7 years at another nursery in Burnley before coming to Le Monde Petit to care for the babies in Little Discoverers. Looking after children is a very rewarding job; being able to watch the babies grow into little children with characters all of their own is very satisfying. I have 3 children of my own who I love spending time with.

Ria Hargreaves

Nursery Practitioner

I came to Le Monde Petit not long after leaving school and trained here at Le Monde Petit to get my Level 3 in Childcare, I currently work as a bank nursery practitioner working 2 days a week, my 2 days are spent looking after our babies.
